Events in Bogota
The welcoming atmosphere is at its best during the annual events that the city hosts, from carnivals to rock music and food festivals, join in if you can. You won't be disappointed...
Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro
This bi-annual festival celebrates Bogota as the 'World Capital of Theatre'. The festival runs for 17 days and includes 100 theatre troupes from all corners of the globe performing their shows to a clamouring audience. From ballet and children's theatre, to pantomime's and circus tents, every theatre art is represented here. The whole city is dressed for a performance as they decorate their doors for this international spectacle, which has had a home here since 1988.
Bogotá Carnival
Held annually in the summer. The streets come alive each year for two days in August, as the annual Bogotá Carnival arrives. Hosted around the streets around Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park you can find a main parade, folkloric theatre, music, costumes and art.
Rock al Parque
A huge, and more importantly free, festival indulges its rock roots with ska, metal and punk bands performing. Prepare to rock as the music gets cranked up loud at the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park alongside 320,000 music fans, 60 bands and 3 days of rock music.
Bogotá Wine and Food Festival
Indulge your belly as this annual festival encourages local cooks against celebrity chefs to showcase the best in Columbian cuisine. Delicious tastings and demonstrations make this an event not to.
