Get Lost in the City of Angels
It’s a long flight from Ireland to Los Angeles but with cheap flights becoming readily available there has never been a better time to sit back and enjoy the extensive range of on board movies on your way to the city of Angels, Los Angeles, and then hit the road.
The city of Los Angeles is large, but densely populated. There is nothing quite like driving down the highways in the US, with the top down on your rented convertable. Escape the constant traffic and traffic lights of the city to feel the sea breeze, cruise from Santa Monica to Malibu and beyond along the Pacific Coastal Highway to get the full experience. You can hire a car from Vayama.ie here.
Here are some of the top places you shouldn't miss when coming to Los Angeles:
Reward yourself as you arrive in Malibu with the perfectly crafted cocktails and lapping waves at the Carbon Beach Club (The Dining Room) 22878 Pacific Coast Hwy. Fresh seafood is the highlight at this gem of an eatery. For a more rustic experience try the fish just down the road at Fish Grill 22935 Pacific Coast Hwy.
South of the main city, take a holiday in a holiday in Catalina Island. The fly fishing, holiday cart riding residence feels more like the Mediterranean than the west coast- just a short boat ride away from the hustle bustle of the city lights. Here you can mingle with yacht owners or splash alongside them at the casino. A return ferry fare from San Pedro or Long Beach is around 64€. For more information and to book online visit here.
2. Suset Strip
If you are spending a couple of nights in the city of Los Angeles you could try…
Sunset Strip! Another driving highlight. Be seen cruising from downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific cost past neon lights, nightclubs and billboards. During the day, you can go to shop and be seen, but be warned, parking can be a nightmare.
You can’t miss the infamous sign on the hill, but if you go there looking for celebrities you are probably going to miss out. The Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard is still a hotspot to get a picture with your hands on the in prints of film stars old and new. If you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of a star getting their place on the road.
Disneyland- This is the birth place of the Disney Theme parks and although the smaller tamer sister of the Florida parks- this is clean and family fun day, or 2 out for all the family or the child inside you. The newer Disney California Adventure Park hosts ‘Cars land’, not to be missed if you are visiting the park’s for the first time. You can view all the attractions and book tickets at here.
